The Band at BBC Music Live Poole Park
For the Queens Golden Jubilee celebrations

The sides Musicians accompany the stepping with a variety of instruments including accordion, trombone, melodeon, violin and whistle and most importantly a big drum to keep the beat. They play traditional British tunes which would have been popular when the steps were being originally danced.

The Cloggies' Band line up for 2007:

Derek Field on accordion
Val Taylor on guitar

Pete Olsen on 12 string guitar
Wallace Dallow (Dill) on flute

Naomi Gibson on fiddle

John Moore on melodeon

Andy Jempson on melodeon

"When playing for the Cloggies, the Band is easily recognised by the trademark Waistcoats & Top Hats trimmed in Cloggies' colours:  more often than not it's also assisted by one of the dancers playing the bass drum and trying to keep the musicians in check"

Some of the musicians & dancers are also members of The Hat Band, a Poole-based group with its own callers that specialises in Barn Dances & Ceilidhs for all occasions and guarantees a fun evening.   Away from the strict tempo of North West Dancing, the Band's music is vigorous and occasionally a bit anarchic!!  Anyone wanting to book the Band for a fun time should call Chris or Derek on 01202 622666" or use the link on the contacts page of this website.

Although the Hat Band is steadily becoming established in its own right, its links with The Quayside Cloggies are strong and to emphasise this connection, the Band's Logo is a Cloggies' style Top Hat.
